Sale of Work 2024 –The Sale of Work takes place on Sunday 1st December from 12-4pm at the GAA complex. To make this event possible, we are looking for the following donations: Bottles for the bottle stall eg. Wine/Spirits/Minerals.  Home Baking/Produce for the Home Produce Stall. Toys in good working order for the Toy Stall. Donations for our Re-Gifting Stall (must be new or nearly-new please).  Donations can be left with Maureen in the Parish Office – Monday – Thursday 8.45am– 12.30pm. If you can volunteer an hour to help set up on the Saturday morning, or help clean up on the Sunday evening it would be very much appreciated. Any queries please contact the Parish Office. 

ROUNDWOOD DRAMA GROUP 

Roundwood Drama Group will be putting on a play – The Barm Brack – on Friday 29thand Saturday 30th November in Roundwood Parish Centre. There will be music from 7.15 pm to start off the evening, followed by the play. Tickets, which are €10 and €5 for children, can be booked from Deirdre Smith (086 8945899) or Mary Doyle (086 8547602). This promises to be a great evening of entertainment so don’t miss it. 

LOTTO  

Results of the draw held on 27th October. There was no jackpot winner the numbers drawn were, 7, 8, 13 & 30. There were six match three winners. Clancys, M.T.D, Aitin, Donna, Noel Doyle and M Colleran. Next week’s jackpot will be €12,400.

The 2024 AGM of the RDCC will take place at 8pm on Monday 11th November 2024 in Roundwood Parish Hall.

ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATION  

President Erskine Childers’ 50th Anniversary Commemoration will take place at Derralossary Church, Roundwood on Sunday 17th November 2024 at 2pm.  Marking the occasion will be guest of honour,  An Tánaiste, Micheál Martin T.D., Minister for Foreign Affairs & Minister for Defence. The Defence Forces will also participate. Car parking will be available at Roundwood Cemetery. A minibus will to shuttle those in need of transport from that point to Derralossary. Refreshments afterwards in Roundwood Parish Hall. All welcome. Please note there will be a one way traffic system on the Oldtown Road on the day. Please follow the advice of local Gardaí and stewards in the area during the event. 

SHEEP DOG TRIALS 

Roundwood Sheep Dog Trials will take place on November 1st starting at 8.30am off the Green Road / Lough Dan Road in Baltynanima. Entries can be registered on the day. For further information please call 086 3781347.  Spectators are most welcome. 

CREATIVE HUB  

Roundwood Cancer Support and Roundwood Creative Hub Market have once again teamed up for a two day winter craft fair weekend in Roundwood Parish Hall. There will be many crafters in attendance selling quality products, home baking, refreshments and a mega raffle. Proceeds go to Roundwood Cancer Support. Please support this event. Saturday from 11am til 5pm and Sunday from 11am til 4pm.

SHAMANIC DRUMMING CIRCLE 

 Shamanic Drumming Circle at Roundwood Parish Hall (upstairs in The Gallery)TUESDAY 5th November, 7-9.30pm. €10. 

Gather at 7pm for tea, cake and chats. We sit in circle for 7.30pm. We tune in and land into the space, do a round of introductions and check in’s (as much or as little as you like) and then do a collective shamanic journey using the drum. The space is supportive and community building. All welcome, no experience in shamanic journeying or drumming is necessary. If you have a shamanic drum I welcome you to bring it along. You would need to bring a mat to lie on, a pillow and a blanket. 

Due to a smaller space than our previous gathering, IT IS ESSENTIAL YOU BOOK A SPACE IN ADVANCE or check in with me on the day to see if there is space available.

Volunteers sought to support a local family in the Roundwood area. Wicklow Dementia Support (WDS) is seeking volunteers 

ALZPALS is a befriending service which supports people with dementia who are living at home. We are looking for volunteers to become a friend to someone with Dementia. Volunteers are required to drop in to visit a person with dementia once a week for two hours and give their carer a break.

Wicklow County Council Mobile Library will be in Roundwood Village on Thursday 7thNovember 2024 from 10am until 11.15am and also from 2.10pm until 4.30pm. Come along and join the library. It’s a free service and is a fantastic way to pick up any book that suits your reading interests.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY TALK 

Esteemed local historian, Martin Timmons, will give us a very informative talk about the history of schools in the Roundwood area. Roundwood had a relatively early start with primary education. Martin’s talk will trace its history from the early 1700s through the mid-1960s, when there were twelve schools in and around the village. Martin is a founder member of the Roundwood Historical Society. A talk not to be missed! Tuesday 22nd November 7.30pm in the Parish Hall.

MEN’S SHED 

Roundwood Men’s Shed: The Shed continues to meet every Tuesday in Knockraheenat Pat Carr’s place (A98 AH02) from 10 to 12 a.m. approximately. We care and listen and share over a cuppa or two. Occasionally we break into song and we have a few fine musicians and singers in our ranks. The experts tell us that music is good for the soul and the mental health of all. We do somegentle exercises and recently we have been planting trees along the Vartry Trail. New faces will be very welcome in the Shed.
