Roundwood and District News 15th July 2024

 

MUSIC IN CALARY 

The next concert in Calary Church will take place on Saturday 20th July when the Arteo Quartet will perform works by Haydn, Beethoven and Mendelssohn. 

The concert will begin at 8 pm with free parking available. If you wish to book tickets or for further information, please email derekneilson11@gmail.com or ring (01) 2818118. 

Tickets for the concert are €18 and €15 for concessions. Music in Calary would also like to thank Wicklow County Council for their support.

Results of draw held on Sunday 14th July. There was no jackpot winner the numbers drawn were: 1, 15, 19 & 28. There were no match three winners.  Next week’s jackpot will be €24,100. 

DERRALOSSARY CHURCHYARD 

 A Work Party will be held on Saturday 27th July in Derralossary Churchyard from 10:00 to 16:00 to continue the work of maintaining and improving the graveyard in advance of Heritage Week.  The information and grave locations stands were installed some months ago and we are engaging with the Tánaiste’s office and Dept of Defence regarding an event on Sunday 17th November which is the 50th anniversary of the death in office of President Erskine Childers. Strimmers (with petrol and plenty of cutting line), rakes, a few lawnmowers and the odd saw will come in handy. If you have any queries, please just call Mervyn on 086 8227998.

RIVER WALK  

East Wicklow Rivers Trust invites you to a walk along the Vartry Reservoir on Tuesday 16th July, 8pm.The walk will follow the woodland trail that includes the embankment, the route of the old Vartry River and the steep-sided cut that joins the upper and lower reservoirs. Eggs, honey, jams, baking, plants, flowers, candles, soaps, waxmelts, bathbombs, knitwear, toys, photography, jewellery,  artificial flower arrangements, ceramics and much more. Please support this initiative from local producers and crafters. 

ACTIVE RETIRED 

Active Retirement exercise class by SielBleuIreland, Thursdays at the Roundwood Parish Hall from 12:30-13:30pm. This class has been extended for another 8 weeks due to popular demand. All welcome €10 per session. This is going very well and we have had positive feedback from all our attendees. 

Bingo – the next Bingo takes place on July 21st at 3 pm in Annamoe Community Centre. All Welcome

Wicklow County Council Mobile Library will be in Roundwood Village on Thursday 18th July 2024 from 10am until 11.15am and also from 2.10pm until 4.30pm. Come along and join the library. It’s a free service and is a fantastic way to pick up any book that suits your reading interests.

45 Card Game every Tuesday night in Moneystown Community Centre starting at 8 pm. Teas served. All are welcome.

Results of the draw held on Sunday 1st July. There was no jackpot winner the numbers drawn were: 12, 18, 24 & 25. There were 12 match three winners.
