Roundwood & District News 17th February 2025

PLOUGHING MATCH 

Roundwood Ploughing Society are holding their annual Ploughing Match on Saturday the 22nd of February at 12.00 noon on land opposite Calary Church, Eircode A98 H766.  Sincere thanks to Paul Delamere, Eoin O’Toole and Judy O’Toole for providing the sites. Conventional, Vintage, Classic Tractors and Horse all catered for on Lea and stubble ground.  Please note all competitors must register by Wednesday the 19th of February at 6pm with Brendan Power @ 087 2420204.  Spectators always welcome, there will be a Chip Van on site. Many thanks to all our sponsors for their continued support. 

THE BARM BRACK 

Roundwood Drama Group will perform their play, the Barm Brack, as a fundraiser for An Tóchar GAA on Saturday Feb 22nd at 7.30pm in Aras an Tóchar please contact Nick Nolan (086 8516254) for tickets, which are €10 for an adult and €5 for a child 

PLAN LAUNCH 

Roundwood Community Biodiversity Action Plan will be launched in Roundwood Parish Hall at 7pm on the 21st of February. Guest speakers include Brian Dunne, Leinster ACRES, Faith Wilson, Ecologist and Hannah O’Kelly, Biodiversity Officer, Wicklow Co Council. All welcome. 

AGRICULTURAL SHOW 

Roundwood Agricultural Show and Street Party will take place on Sunday the 4th of August 2025. A meeting to discuss ideas for this year’s Show will take place on Wednesday 26th of February in Roundwood Parish Hall at 8.15pm. Anyone with ideas or suggestions or who would like to help out with the organisation of the event are most welcome to attend. 

LOTTO  

Results of the draw held on February 16th. There was no jackpot winner the numbers drawn were, 8, 21, 26 & 30. There were seven match three winners. J Byrne, T Byrne, Hazel Biero, The Kennys, D Jenkinson, C Campion and J.E.T.S . Next week’s jackpot will be €16,300.    

PERSONAL ALARMS 

The Roundwood and District Community Council are registered to administer the senior alert scheme which provides grants to elderly people towards the provision of personal alarms through the Senior Alert Scheme. The personal alarm offers reassurance to allow independent living, safe in the knowledge that you can quickly be in contact with a family member or neighbour in the event of an emergency. BUS CONSULTATION 

Glendalough to Bray Bus Consultation: the NTA is looking for feedback from the public, which will be used to improve service levels along the Bray-Glendalough bus corridor. This service will be of huge importance for our community and everyone is urged to provide feedback – even if you don’t currently use public transport. Other members of our community will need this service, so please make sure your feedback is included! The objective is to provide more frequent services on the Glendalough – Bray Corridor which will help to improve the integration with other bus routes and rail services. The purpose is to provide the following: a 7-day week service between Glendalough and Bray, serving Laragh, Annamoe, Roundwood and Kilmacanogue. The proposed service will offer significantly enhanced service levels, providing an additional 5 buses per day between Glendalough and Bray; improved connectivity with regional and Dart rail services at Bray (Daly) Rail Station. The closing date is 07/02/2025 at 5 pm so please submit your feedback as soon as possible at:
