CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
The Roundwood and District Community Council would like to thank the great crowd who hit the streets of Roundwood to witness the turning on of the Christmas tree and village lights recently. Many thanks to Luggala Estate for again donating the wonderful tree, to Joe Synnott Roofing and team for getting the tree in place and organising a lot of the necessary logistics. Thanks to Robert Power Electrician & his staff for doing the needful on the Christmas lights all around the village. A big, big thanks to our Champion Ladies An Tochar GAA team, who had the mighty task to officially turn on the Christmas tree lights. The hot refreshments in the Parish Hall afterwards went down a treat. Thanks to Santa for the treats for the kids and for taking time out of his busy schedule to come to Roundwood. Thanks also to the great carol singers including Roundwood Folk Group and the Children’s Choir and talented Ukulele and guitar players, under the expert guidance of Linda Ferguson, who most definitely got us all into the festive spirit. As ever, we are greatly indebted to our local Gardaí, and particularly Garda Michael O’Rourke, for ensuring the safety of all throughout the evening.
The work on the Christmas lights in the village is coordinated and funded through the Roundwood & District Community Council with some very welcome financial support this year from Wicklow Co Council, Greg Kavanagh from Beakonshaw and Richie Doyle from M&N Civil Engineering. Thanks to Dunne Stores Newtown, local businesses and volunteers who helped out with the teas and goodies on the night. The village looks absolutely fantastic – well done to all.
