CHARITY CONCERT  

The Community Youth Choir & Let’s Sing Together Choir are hosting an upcoming Christmas Charity Concert titled “Songs & Sleigh Bells” The concert will be held in St. Laurence O’Toole Church Roundwood on Sunday 15th December at 3pm and will have stunning performances from local musicians & singers. There will be refreshments afterwards in Kavanagh’s Pub Roundwood, where there will also be a wonderful Raffle with some fabulous prizes to be won. This is a family friendly event and everyone is welcome. All proceeds to Roundwood Cancer Support & local causes. The event is donations based and there will be donation buckets on the door. We are also gratefully accepting raffle prizes if any businesses might be in a position to donate cychoir24@gmail.com 

SALE OF WORK  

Sale of Work 2024 –The Sale of Work takes place on Sunday 1st December from 12-4pm at the GAA complex. To make this event possible, we are looking for the following donations: Bottles for the bottle stall eg. Wine/Spirits/Minerals.  Home Baking/Produce for the Home Produce Stall. Toys in good working order for the Toy Stall. Donations for our Re-Gifting Stall (must be new or nearly-new please).  Donations can be left with Maureen in the Parish Office – Monday – Thursday 8.45am– 12.30pm. If you can volunteer an hour to help set up on the Saturday morning, or help clean up on the Sunday evening it would be very much appreciated. Any queries please contact the Parish Office. 

ROUNDWOOD DRAMA GROUP 

Roundwood Drama Group will be putting on a comedy – The Barm Brack – on Friday 29th, Saturday 30th November and Saturday 7th December in Roundwood Parish Centre. Doors open at 7 pm and there will be music from 7.30 pm to start off the evening, followed by the play. Tickets, which are €10 and €5 for children, can be booked from Deirdre Smith (086 8945899) or Mary Doyle (086 8547602). This promises to be a great evening of entertainment so don’t miss it. 

LOTTO  

Results of the draw held on 10th November. There was no jackpot winner the numbers drawn were, 5, 7, 8 & 11. There were six match three winners. Mark Burke, B. Roche, Esther Coakley, R. Kennedy, Mairead O’Reilly and Lisa & Abbie. Next week’s jackpot will be €13,000.  

HISTORICAL JOURNAL LAUNCH NIGHT 

The Roundwood and District Historical, Folklore and Archaeological Society are pleased to announce the launch of the 33rd Journal. Roundwood Parish Hall at 8.00pm on Saturday 16th November. This year’s edition has articles covering material from the 1600s to the 21st century and provides insights into local history. Come and join us for refreshments and to buy your 33rd Journal, at just €10 euro it makes a perfect Christmas gift for relatives living abroad. 

ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATION  

President Erskine Childers’ 50th Anniversary Commemoration will take place at Derralossary Church, Roundwood on Sunday 17th November 2024 at 2pm.  Marking the occasion will be guest of honour,  An Tánaiste, Micheál Martin T.D., Minister for Foreign Affairs & Minister for Defence. The Defence Forces will also participate. Car parking will be available at Roundwood Cemetery. A minibus will to shuttle those in need of transport from that point to Derralossary. Refreshments afterwards in Roundwood Parish Hall. All welcome. Please note there will be a one way traffic system on the Oldtown Road on the day. Please follow the advice of local Gardaí and stewards in the area during the event.

DEMENTIA SUPPORT 

Volunteers sought to support a local family in the Roundwood area. Wicklow Dementia Support (WDS) is seeking volunteers 

ALZPALS is a befriending service which supports people with dementia who are living at home. We are looking for volunteers to become a friend to someone with Dementia. Volunteers are required to drop in to visit a person with dementia once a week for two hours and give their carer a break.

CANCER SUPPORT  

Roundwood Cancer Support office is open every Monday and Friday from ten to twelve o clock for anyone who needs advice or help when dealing with Cancer.  

MOBILE LIBRARY   

Wicklow County Council Mobile Library will be in Roundwood Village on Thursday21st November 2024 from 10am until 11.15am and also from 2.10pm until 4.30pm. Come along and join the library. It’s a free service and is a fantastic way to pick up any book that suits your reading interests.
