Roundwood Notes 14.07.2017

2017 ROUNDWOOD STREET FESTIVAL
The 2017 Roundwood Street Festival is coming our way again soon and will take place from Wednesday, 2nd August to Sunday 6th August with plenty of activities of interest for young and old alike.  An outline of the festival programme and more details are available on http://www.roundwood.ie  As all the plans fall into place updates will be posted on the website, Roundwood.ie facebook page and copies of the programme will be available inside the Parish Hall (inside entrance at car park).

Roundwood Men’s Shed
Again, a warm invitation is extended to all from near and far to join us in the shed at Pat Carr’s place in Knockraheen from 10 a.m. on Tuesdays. Now with the extra work involved in the garden some of the shedders head out to the garden again after the ‘elevenses’. With the chat and guff and banter and supportive listening, the break can last for the best part of an hour. To see the vegetables jumping out of the ground is worth a visit alone and you won’t be stuck for a head of lettuce or a head of cabbage.

Beer or gambling would not be associated with a men’s shed so it came as a surprise when one of the mature members proposed that we have a ‘beer garden’. But we soon learned that it was containers with beer for the slugs he had in mind. Yes, slugs love beer, and they die happy drinking it. So if you have a problem with slugs in your garden come along to the SHED and find out more. We will be able to supply you with a suitable container, but the beer will not be supplied.
