PHOTO EXHIBITION
The Roundwood and District Community Council with the support of Wicklow Co Council’s Tourism Diaspora fund held a re-union at Roundwood Old School on the August Bank Holiday weekend. Such was the success of the event they were requested to open the doors of the photographic exhibition one more time. So if you missed the official event earlier this month please make note of the following; the exhibition will be open from 7 to 9pm on Saturday 29th of August and again on Sunday the 30th from 12 noon to 2pm. All welcome.
CHRISTMAS PARTY NIGHT
There will be a Christmas party night with Red Hurley show on Tuesday 8th December at the Ballsbridge Hotel which will include a four course Christmas dinner and show at a cost of €59 per person. DIAMOND BRIDGE CLUB
Back to Bridge time is almost here. Bridge resumes in Roundwood on Monday 7th September at 7.45pm in Roundwood Community Hall. Bridge lessons for Beginners to start a week or two later. Play resumes in above club on Friday 11th September at 9.45am, no partner required, visitors and new members always welcome. To get in some practice before then why not come along to East Glendalough School on Tuesday the 1st September where a former club member Sandra Dunne is running a fundraiser in aid of Mellon Educate. Play starts at 7.30 sharp, no partner needed entry £10 and a raffle will be held on the night. We are looking for any donations of Bric – A – Brac for our stall at the Car Boot Sales Donations of any unwanted household items would be gratefully received. All donations can be left in the kitchen of the Parish Hall. No clothes or soft toys and electrical items only if boxed and in working order. Don’t Bin it – Donate it.
COMMUNITY EDUCATION
The Kildare Wicklow Education Training Board are currently advertising funding support towards classes in the local community. Some previous courses organised by the Roundwood & District Community Council with their support included beginners digital camera, flower arranging and cookery. HERITAGE WEEK 2015
As part of Heritage Week, Roundwood and District Historical Society will visit Kilmacurragh Arboretum on Saturday the 29th of August 2015 for a guided tour . Kilmacurragh is now in the care of the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin and is home to many interesting trees , shrubs and plants and well worth visiting.We will depart from the Parish Hall, Roundwood at 1.30 p.m Saturday 29th August and look forward to seeing you then.
CALARY CHURCH DURING HERITAGE WEEK
There will be free guided tours of Calary Church and graveyard explaining the start of the parish and its continuing life in the community during Heritage Week. The church will be open between 2pm and 6pm on Saturday 29th, Sunday 30th August and we look forward to welcoming you.
