All are welcome Website: kilmacanoguehistorysociety.com Judy Cameron is the archivist at Powerscourt Church and became interested in the history of the locality while studying the extensive parish records. She has developed several graveyard trails in the Church grounds, which bring to life the rich history of the area through its former residents. In her illustrated talk Judy will present a fascinating insight into the working communications in Enniskerry and the Dargle valley during the 19thcentury. Entrusted some time ago with a copy of a diary written by a Powerscourt curate in the late 1800s she learned much about life in the area at that time. More recently she has had access to a Sandy’s family cache of the original letters between Richard, the 5th Viscount Powerscourt and his agent, Robert Sandy’s, which reveals their concerns in managing the estate and the farm, in the years 1818 to 1823. The talk will also take a look at their neighbours, and their descendants and a glimpse of the influence of the Rev Dr Daly in the valley during that time.
