CANCER RESEARCH NIGHT
There will be a night of music, song and dancing in The Grand Hotel on Saturday 17th August in aid of the Cancer Clinical Research Trust which is headed by Professor Crowne. The night will kick off with a cabaret at 8.30pm and dancing with Sean Olohan and his band will take place from approximately 10pm until late. Tickets are only €10 each and can be bought from The Grand Hotel, Wicklow, Track One, Main Street, Wicklow, Justines, Roundwood and Mary Margaret Molloy 086 8287858. HIDDEN HISTORY WALK IN THE WICKLOW UPLANDS
As part of Heritage Week 2013, Roundwood & Dictrict Historical & Folklore Society in co-operation with Wicklow Uplands Council are hosting a guided Hidden History Walk in the Wicklow Uplands. Starting at Castlekevin, travelling through the village of Annamoe, then traversing the old road to Derralossary, the walk will cover historical aspects & points of interest along the route. The walk will be led by local history experts and segments of the walk will access land not usually open to the public. The meeting point will be at the Parish Centre, Roundwood, Co Wicklow, and from there you will be transferred by minibus to Castlekevin to return on foot via Annamoe and Derralossary Church. The Roundwood & District Community Council is now registered to administer the Seniors Alert Scheme. The Scheme aims to encourage community support for vulnerable people in our communities, provides grant assistance towards the purchase and installation of monitored personal alarms to enable older persons to continue to live securely in their homes with confidence, independence and peace of mind.
